Congrats! to 1617

April 12th, 2011

Even we at Real Assets are shocked to learn that 1617 Boylston has achieved an Energy Star rating of 95 (out of 100).  Assuming complex-computer-programs-that-the-government-pours-billions-of-dollars-into do not lie, you guys deserve a pat on the back.  A rating of 70 or higher gets you the Energy Star award, so you guys have qualified with honors.  If only you could sell the extra points like tax credits, ah!

Congratulations!

Grafiti…Less

February 3rd, 2011

keeping the building grafiti free has been difficult this last month.  does anyone have any suggestions to keep these punks from wasting our valuable time and resources erasing their names? It’s a pity.  Why not art?  Why tags?

Thanks Dave for the hard work keeping on top of the mess.

If anyone sees taggers in action, please, please, please, call us or SPD immediately so we can report to SPD.  Or we can just stick Moe on them :) - or better yet, Osiris.

Since you are often the first on site in the AM’s, please also let us know, a friendly email, when you see new graffiti gracing the sides of Heath Properties (the BV apartments included).  We will do our best to remove it immediately.

Thanks.

CleanScapes, a Source of Pride for Boylston and Every Small Business Owner

February 3rd, 2011

We have found an amazing partner to assist with keeping Boylston & Pine pristine: CleanScapes. Since this ambitious company first entered the seattle market five years ago as a small exterior janitorial company, they’ve taken off.  Now, as you probably know, Cleanscapes is the city’s contracted residential garbage collection provider for half of seattle. They’ve turned garbage into glamour.  They were also named Washington’s fastest growing business in 2010.

On Boylston & Pine, we are excited to have hired CleanScapes to turn gritty streets into glamourous street scapes, and nasty graffiti into glamourous clean walls!  They will be doing exterior clean up on a regular basis to ensure Boylston is a street we are proud of.

Cleanscapes itself is a source of pride for any small business seeking to succeed in their vision.  It is story of how a once small, principled company has blasted into stardom based on their adhesion to their principles and commitment to community- ideals that we at Real Assets embrace.  We are always seeking companies who we can learn from- and this is definitely one!

CleanScapes was founded after Martin, the owner, tired of the urban grime in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood and he committed to do something about it.  Now that commitment has spread to Portland, SanFran, Shoreline, Seattle and landing right at our doorstep on Pine & Boylston!

Real Assets takes away another practical lesson form our experience with CleanScapes:

We bid the exterior cleaning scope of work out to several companies.  As usual we assume a small agile and ‘low overhead’ company can produce equal results for reduced cost.  We were wrong.  CleanScapes underbid the competition by almost 50%. They provided more and at much less cost.

Occasionally this phenomenon, ‘economies of scale’ really shines in a company. That’s one reason why we suggest whenever you are bidding out a job- printing, cleaning, outsourcing, etc…. bid it to a combination of both small and large companies. Sometimes, like we found with CleanScapes, it’s surprising where the savings are.

Seattle Taken by Storm! Real Assets plan to dig out.

November 23rd, 2010

Real Assets joins the City of Seattle in it’s amazement over how quickly snow can accumulate. WOW.

Good News!  We have delivered provisions to our properties for de-icing and shoveling.

When the roads have been rendered safe to drive Real Assets will provide personnel to shovel sidewalks and de-ice walkways for you.

In the meantime, if you would like to access de-icer and shovels to clear paths for yourselves or your customers, please call Peter Kuchan at 206-375-5982 or Adam Simon at 206-755-6345 for instructions on locating the supplies at the property.

If you have any maintenance emergencies during this time, please log in to our maintenance page that can be accessed from our homepage.

Thanks for your patience as we participate in City solidarity by keeping one more dangerous car off the streets until the sheets of ice have thawed or are eliminated by SDOT.
