Weekend Fire at 1605

October 24th, 2011

We regret to inform you that a significant fire occurred in the 1605 building over the weekend, Saturday night.  We are pleased to inform you, however, that it was controlled and there is minimal damage to the majority of the building spaces.  Thanks to Chris Rodgers who actually was doing the night-owl-thing, working saturday night at 2:30 when he smelled smoke.  Without his involvement it would have been much worse.  Also a big thank you to the 40+ firefighters to showed up to locate and battle the blaze.

The blaze started as an electrical fire in the ceiling of the basement and spread up a plumbing chase adjacent to the rear stairwell.

We have clean up crews working at the building.  Throughout the next several weeks/month we will be removing some of the burnt building materials and replacing with new.  It will take that long for the smell to dissipate.  Please be patient with the messes, workers, and smells throughout that time.

If you have specific concerns that we can address: excessive smell, if any plumbing or electrical seems not to be working, etc… please let Peter or Adam know.  pkuchan@realassetsps.com or asimon@realassetsps.com.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.  And thank you very much to Chris Rodgers for saving the day.

More Lander Security

August 26th, 2011

Unfortunately Smart Spaces has another theft to report at the Lander property.  Last night a burglar broke into an office and stole a large, but empty, safe (won’t they be disappointed).  We have asked security, who has been very responsible and helpful with solving prior issues, to step up their night-time patrols of the building, especially the office areas.

Please take you laptops home and valuable items out of view of the windows.  Please also let the police (and us) know immediately if you see suspicious person at the property and make sure to inform your employees to do the same.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Lander Security Update

August 12th, 2011

Over the past 24 hours we have been notified of a daytime theft of a receptionist’s wallet while it stood unguarded, and a nighttime visitor who is smoking and camping out with his laptop in the building.  We have already let our security service know and they are stepping up their patrols at night-time to ensure the building’s safety.

Please Remember:

  • Always lock your door and/or keep your valuables secure
  • If you see anyone suspicious at the building call 9-11
  • Call or email us with a notice so we can notify our private security firm to ramp up patrols

Thank you.
